What is CPS?
Child Protective Services, or CPS, handles reports of child abuse and neglect by family members for the purpose of protecting children. State law in Texas requires that any person who believes that a child is suffering from abuse or neglect at home report the situation to a law enforcement officer or to CPS. Many children waiting for adoption in the state foster care system have been removed from an abusive or neglectful home situation by CPS.
